Starbit began the design process with wireframes to visualise the overall structure. Before beginning the more intricate design tasks, it was important to test how the different aspects of the programme would sit together in a logical way, ensuring users could navigate from one part to another without impediment. Multiple different types of content had to be factored in, including news, artist profiles, exhibits, reference material, and contributed content in the form of “Your Linen Stories” submitted via the website (all of which would grow significantly in volume over time). From the outset, it was clear that high quality imagery had to form the centrepiece of each page on the site, but this had to be implemented without compromising the readability of content on mobile devices. The site has continued to evolve over the course of two years, and has become even more critical to the programme with 2020 seeing many events moving entirely to a virtual format.
