Starting Point

A long-established organisation with a pan-European membership, the European Society for Veterinary and Comparative Nutrition (ESVCN) approached Starbit to rebuild their website with new online membership functions. Having seen work Starbit had undertaken for another similar organisation, ESVCN began with a clear idea of what they wanted from their new system. Members needed to be able to manage their membership online with an automated annual renewals process, access member-only content, and engage with the organisation via online polls and event registration.

Solution

The new website, based on Drupal, has been designed to minimise the administrative burden by automating many processes formerly carried out manually by the ESVCN team. New members go through an automated approval process, renewal reminders are sent automatically, and all payments are taken directly in euros via Stripe (with membership accounts updated accordingly once the payment is processed). For elements where admin input is required, there is an easy to use back-end interface. This includes built-in newsletter and mass contact functions, a member voting system, and the ability to create member only content. This content is categorised and available both via a central hub and also via the main menu (shown as locked if not logged in or if logged in with an expired membership).
